The Medicago polymorpha cultivar "Santiago" performed better than all other lines and cultivars tested despite suffering severe losses, particularly in seed yield, from insect damage. Of all the material tested, three M. polymorpha (SA4178, SA4245, SA21255) and two M. truncatula (Z115 and Z601) were not affect by insects. These lines should be used in breeding programs so that their pest tolerance traits can be incorporated into cultivars or lines with better agronomic characteristics. Within the range
