The reputation with our export customers of wheat grain produced in the Esperance and Albany port zones has been poor. It has been unclear if this is due to intrinsically poor quality or if it is a bargaining tool to buy the grain at a discounted price to offset freight costs from these remote ports. Quality of wheat grain produced in the Esperance and Albany port zones was compared to that from other zones in Western Australia and assessed for possible defects that could reduce it's commercial value.
