Black spot caused by Mycosphaerella pinodes is a major disease of field pea in southern Australia. Resistant pea varieties have a potential to double the pea production in Australia. In order to explore new sources of resistance a project to screen a significant part of the pea collection at the Vavilov Institute, Russia off shore in Ethiopia was started in 1998. It was planned that based on the disease screening in Ethiopia, a selected few lines will be imported in Australia. Dr Khan made the last visit
