The National Livestock Identification Scheme (NLIS) is a new system for the identification and tracking of cattle, developed by Australia's cattle industry. The NLIS introduces permanent 'whole of life' identification devices which can be read electronically. A new scheme for producing cattle for EU processing has also been introduced nationally.
