Whenever pigs are moved from one property to another there is a risk of introducing disease. This farmnote covers the precautions that pig producers can take to minimize the risk of introducing disease into their herds. These include: significant diseases to look out for, methods of buying breeding stock, health status of breeding stock, quarantine of newly purchased livestock, buying unmated stock, artificial insemination, vaccinations and treatments.
