The aim of the project was to produce well-adapted, high-yielding wheat varieties for Western Australia that are suitable for the ASW, APW, noodles, Australian hard and Australian soft quality grades. Selection of resistance to the main diseases encountered in Western Australia was to be carried out and aimed at selecting varieties of varying maturity to provide flexibility in sowing time. Fourteen new varieties were released during the life of the project. The varieties produced are Carnamah, Cunderdin, lannie and Perenjori in 1996, Arrino, Brookton, Calingiri, Nyabing and Westonia in 1997, Ajana and Camm in 1998, Karlgarin in 1999, Wyalkatchem and Harrismith in 2001.
