Small landholders keep many types of animals, including sheep, horses, cattle, alpacas, goats, pigs, fowls and ostriches. This farmnote provides information on the issues and questions that small landholders need to consider when purchasing livestock. The issues include: capability of the property to support grazing stock, planning the property for stocking, buying healthy stock, stock regulations, fencing, weeds, pasture establishment, feed, water, and animal health.
