In June 2000 an emergency response was mounted by the Agriculture Protection Board and AGWEST to a moderate to severe outbreak of the Australia plague locust (APL), Chortoicetes terminifera, predicted to occur in the Spring over a large area of the South West Land Division. The objectives of the response were two fold: prepare agribusiness and landholders to cope with the outbreak and ; prevent the formation of high density flying swarms.
