A grassed waterway is a natural or artificially constructed broad, shallow channel used to receive run-off and to convey it to a lower point in the landscape without causing soil erosion. This Farmnote describes and illustrates grassed waterways, outlines the purpose, where to install waterways and how they work, planning and design considerations, construction of artificial waterways with and without levee banks and cross slope waterways, maintenance and legal considerations in Western Australia.
