Drought increases the risk of organochlorine residues above the Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) being detected in animals sold for human consumption. This Farmnote discusses factors that lead to an increase in the Maximum Residue Limits, including soil contamination, pasture contamination, unconventional feeds, the effect of vegetables, hungry stock and management options that can be used by farmers on organochlorine affected land.
