Hypothermia occurs in sheep when too much body heat is lost or too little body heat is produced, and the result is a drop in body temperature. This Farmnote discusses hypothermia in sheep in Western Australia, specifically factors contributing to hypothermia (including adverse weather, time of shearing and acclimatisation, age of the animal and sheep behaviour) as well as clinical signs of hypothermia, treatment for affected animals (including what will not work), prevention and treatment and biosecurity
