This DVD shows the causes and effects of soil degradation with particular reference to Western Australia. Farming practices and farming the land beyond its capability are the major causes of soil degradation. This leads to soil salinity, erosion and soil structure breakdown. The most obvious form of soil degradation in Western Australia is soil salinity. It also discusses how soil structure can decline and lead to reduced productivity.
