This DVD looks at the bee breeding programme in Western Australia. The Italian type honeybee was selected as the most suitable for Western Australian conditions. Two characteristics, temprement and honey production, were selected as these are the characteristics required by beekeepers. They also selected for brood viability and disease resistance. The video goes on to discuss how the breeding programme was established, how in-breeding was prevented and how the queens are artificially inseminated. At
