Leaf injury symptoms characteristic of boron (B) toxicity were found to occur in crops of Stirling barley widely distributed in the medium to low rainfall zones. These crops grew almost exclusively on the duplex soils with alkaline and fine-textured subsoils which were generally non-saline but probably sodic.
