Despite effectively ad libitum feeding of chaff for the wethers, consumption was low throughout the voyage. Feed consumption was 37 per cent of the recommended rate for the wethers and 89 per cent of the recommended rate for the lambs. Although gut fill may confound the liveweight results, on average the wethers lost 1.6 kg and the lambs gained 1.9 kg.
