In Western Australian, root rot (caused by one or more fungi from the genera Aphanomyces, Fusarium, Phytophthora, Pythium, and Rhizoctonia) and clover scorch (Kabatiella caulivora) in subterranean clover are the fungal diseases having the greatest effect on pasture production during the past 15-20 years. Cercospora disease (Cercospora zebrina) and rust (Uromyces trifolii-repentis) in subterranean clover and Phoma blackstem and leaf spot (Phoma medicaginis) in medic are probably the next most important pas re legume diseases.
