Results indicated that for current commercial varieties sown at conventional times, the average risk of some frost damage occurring near the flowering are 20% or more for most districts south of Moora; in most situations when wheat crops are sown early the yield advantages of early sowing are likely to be similar to the reduction in yield due to the increased incidence of frost damage.
