The most important result from this project was the selection of three late-midseason to late varieties for registration as new cultivars. Three other groups of breeding material underwent field evaluation, resulting in the selection for final stage trials of 10 lines of early maturing ssp. subterraneum, 10 lines of early-midseason ssp. subterraneum and 17 lines of early-midseason ssp. yanninicum.
