Linear regression models were used to relate long term grain yield of spring wheat cv. Gamenya and rainfall at eight sites in the wheatbelt of Western Australia. Periodic and monthly models, using stepwise linear regression described the grain yield of wheat better than simple regression equations using total crop seasonal or annual rainfall. The monthly model had the greatest R2, particularly at low rainfall sites and was the best predictor of grain yield.
