With appropriate fertilizer application and plot design, there was no consitent yield advantage from reducing inter-row spacing below 09.18m. Additional factors studied were the effect of stubble retention, the effect of plant population, and the effect of variety on response to changing row spacings. There were no interactions between row spacing, and either stubble retention, plant population, or variety.
