Feral pigs (sus scrofa) occur over 40 per cent of Australia, where they can inflict losses to agricultural production in excess of $100 million per year. Although shooting and trapping can be used as control techniques, baiting using 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) is the most effective option for controlling feral pigs.
