Deciles are commonly used to rank historical climate data, such as growing season rainfall, by arranging the years into categories which contain a tenth of the historical years. This Farmnote discusses how deciles can be used to measure rainfall averages, the spread of rainfall in an area of Western Australia and as a guide to the likelihood of required rain outcomes.
