Abstract: (En)
The widespread adoption of Ornithopus compressus (yellow serradella) as a pasture legume for lighter textured and acid soils is limited by the high cost of establishment. A major component in the cost of establishment is the rate of sowing needed to achieve a desirable density using pod which has a low level of initial germinability. A commercial processing system which can supply highly germinable seed is needed if the adoption of yellow serradella is to advance. A serradella dehuller, designed by Keith nders of the NSW Department of Agriculture, Trangie, has potential to fill this role. However, the output from the dehuller during initial testing in W.A. was considered unsatisfactory due to a high level of wastage of potentially viable seed through me
