The 'French and Schultz' equation (French and Shultz 1984a, 1984b) has had enormous impact on extension practice for farm management. Procedure based on this equation have been developed to: make yield forecasts near planting and as the season progresses; and estimate potential yield and/or water use efficiency (WUE) at the end of the growing season.
