Perennial grasses are well suited to the high rainfall and long growing seasons of southern regions of Western Australia. They benefit agricultural industries based on pasture because: the feed production pattern is better suited to animal requirements than that provided by annual pasture. This means reduced weight loss through summer/autumn. Beef can be turned off earlier and sheep grow more uniform, stronger wool. Perennials significantly reduce the need for supplementary feed in grazing systems. : co y farmers to establish and maintain existing perennial pastures.
