This paper examines the impact of favourable and unfavourable events on the role and profitability of cropping in Western Australia. In particular this paper focuses on canola and pulses in two main regions of Western Australia - the eastern wheatbelt and the south coast region. Bio-economic representative farm models are used to examine the farm-level impacts on profits and resource allocation, particularly concerning canola and pulses, of a range of adverse and favourable changes.
