Michelle Davis -- decided to stay and protect her home -- Anne Parsons -- left her home to provide emergency first aid -- Andrea Mengler -- decided to stay and defend her home -- Anne Osborn -- decided to go early -- Debbie Packard -- sought refuge from the fire.
On 27 December 2003 a major bush fire burnt out nearly 15 00 ha of farmland surrounding the Great Southern community of Tenterden. This is an account of five women's experiences as they lived through the traumatic event.
